Hey there, Portland yogis! I’m so excited to be gearing up to teach my second arm balance workshop at Flex & Flow this Sunday the 28th at 11am. It’s going to be 90 minutes of a little bit of flow, a lot bit of playing on hands, and a lot of sweating!
It’s open to all levels! How is that possible you ask? Let’s take straddle splits for example (and maybe a bit of foreshadowing…). Here are the multiple options to be working if we’re breaking these poses down.
Straddle splits
You can also take this against the wall.
Straddle handstand

Straddle handstand hops
Puppy press
Twisted handstand splits
One-armed handstand
I love playing with poses that have a stepped progression to them. And this is a great example. How do all of these relate? They’re all based on straddle splits! [Notice I didn’t give any tips in this post. You’ll just have to be there in person to get sweaty and play! 😉 ]
The theme of the week is all about gettin’ weird with it! I love this concept! It’s a sign to mix it up the minute things get boring. That’s why I love teaching the style of yoga that I do. There’s always a new variation of a pose or a transition into / out of it to play with. A pose should never get boring. There’s always, always, always somewhere new to take it!
What are you doing lately to keep things WEIRD?! If you’re stumped, jump in on this contest with prAna and Organic Valley! It lasts until the 31st, there are 6 ways to play, and there will be 10 winners that walk (in their own weird fashion of course) away with some awesome Organic Fuel swag, a two-month supply of Organic Fuel and $300 in credit to use on prAna.com!
Still need more weirdness and playtime in your life? Come to Flex & Flow on Sunday to play with one, a few, or all of these straddle variations! Sign up here now!
